Google is set to introduce a convenient new feature to the Play Store that will remind Android users to open apps they have just downloaded. Often, we download an app and then get sidetracked by other activities, forgetting to open it. This upcoming feature aims to address this issue by sending timely reminders.
Play Store Reminders for New App Openings
According to an APK teardown by Android Authority, Google is testing a feature that will send reminders to users to open newly installed apps. These reminders will be sent within 24 hours if the app has not been opened. The "Open app reminder" feature will notify users that the app has been installed and is ready to be used.
Multiple Reminders for New Apps
The teardown also revealed that the Play Store will send at least two reminders to open the newly installed apps. If the user dismisses the initial notification and still doesn't open the app, a secondary reminder will be sent after some time. However, after two reminders, no further notifications will be issued.
Currently, this feature is not live in the Google Play Store app as it is still in the testing phase. Google is expected to roll out the feature to the public soon.
Ongoing Improvements to the Play Store
Google continuously enhances user experience by adding new features to the Play Store. Recently, the ability to download two apps simultaneously was introduced. However, users are still waiting for the capability to update multiple apps at once, which is expected to be released in the coming months.
This new reminder feature to open newly downloaded apps is another step by Google to ensure users fully utilize the apps they download from the Play Store.
